Maggies Bike and Hike
Well Saturday turned out to be a great day weather wise and our number of 700 swelled to around 1,000. However it all went very well and although we were rushed off our feet at times it was a great day and the entrants were all delighted with their lunch, while a good number took advantage of the physios in the hall for those aching muscles or cramps. Each year on the day I wish I was doing this myself, but then I come to my senses.

April drawing to a close
The end of April and it’s been a funny kind of month. Beautiful sunny days and then a day full of snow flurries. We had a quiet spell because of the Volcano eruption and our guests from abroad couldn’t make it. Tomorrow (1st May) sees Invermoriston turning into a hive of activity. It is the annual “Maggie’s Monster Bike and Hike” charity event seeing around 700 entrants covering the Great Glen Way route from Fort William to Inverness over 24 hours. They cycle the first part to Fort Augustus, then walk on to Invermoriston, Drumnadrochit and ultimately for the hardiest amongst them the final leg to Inverness.
Our Hall provides a much needed stop for soup, sandwiches, cakes, and any first aid or medical help needed. The villagers sign up en-masse to do their bit whether it be spreading 700 rolls, baking for the multitude or doing a stint in the village hall to help and serve the deluge of people.
Here’s hoping for a nice day.
